Math Garden Tower

Help me give my students empowerment learning experience of aligning their knowledge of growing garden and math.

My Project

I want to improve the quality of learning motivation within the students with modern real-world math applications. For example, Tower Garden requires knowledge of measurements for nutrients/water, understand senses of timing and calendar skills, measures amounts of sun light needs for specific vegetables/fruits, analytical statistic data graph such as how many days grow with specific amounts of nutrients supplements comparison or total costs, how to grow food, etc.

In the end, the students will gain a life-long real-world learning experience on how to grow, harvest, and prepare a variety of fruits/vegetables needs with correlations with STEM applications.

The goal is to support/engage students to learn mathematically as students sense empowerment by eating the salad with all vegetables/fruits they grew at the end of learning process. Out of tower garden, I hope to accomplish the empowerment of students' lifelong learning with more data informed and inclusivity for all diversity levels of students collaboration learning together.

The evaluation of success will be measured by students' knowledge of sense of timing, calendar skills, data statistics skills, mathematically real-world applications, sequences of cause/effect which will boost the NWEA/MAP and STAAR scores. Students engagement, empowerment of students' learning, students centered, work ethics, and self-efficacy empowerments can be evaluated and measured by soft skills rubrics.

I am a teacher at Deaf state school funded by the state where the high percentage of my students are from low-income households, Deaf students with additional disability, and every students receive a free breakfast and lunch. The overall picture of school budget is very tight and limited. My school will not be able to fund and support the enrichment learning materials to support my deaf students better life-long learning academically and socially.
