I love math, but my students are so nervous about it. I am trying a different approach to help them gain confidence in a low-stakes way. Playing math board games during our math block will encourage discussion, collaboration, and fun!
While I love technology and its uses, I have found that putting a student in front of a screen to play a math game online isn't how I want my students to learn math.
I want them to work together with old-school board games! Who didn't love family game night growing up? I want my math block to be like a family game night, but in the classroom! I don't want to hear students quietly glued to their computers during math. I want to hear laughing, playing, discussing, and collaborative conversations.
