Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a group of energetic 7th graders with a desire to learn. A good portion of my students live in extreme poverty and 100% of the school receives free breakfast/lunch. My students do not have access to many of the resources they need to engage in meaningful learning experiences, both in the classroom and at home.

My students have developed their own community through the continued support of each other.

Many of my students are English Language Learners and rely on the support of their classmates to succeed. We work together to ensure that every student feels supported through their learning.

My Project

Many of the supplies I have here are basic supplies needed for the classroom. Pencils seem to disappear quicker than any other material. Whiteboard markers to allow students to practice the material up at the whiteboards. Dice to learn about probability. Whiteboard geometry supplies so I can demonstrate for the whole class how to construct a triangle.

Learning math should be fun!

Many of our students learn better with hands on and game based learning. They love a challenge! Therefore, I have some supplies listed to help with that. A bingo game to help remember how to convert percents, dice to practice integer operations, a multiplication chart to play guess that number (helps with number sense), and so many more.
