Math Games and Science Models for STEM Class

My students need math games for their math intervention time. The students need games, quickies and independent type tools to practice their math skills.

My Students

A typical day in my classroom is two sections of science and two sections of math. I teacher 58 students and see each student for 135 minutes or more a day. Multiplication and division is the most challenging for my students.

The students are eager to learn, however due to the high free and reduce lunch percentage (83%) students do not have the resources to obtain the appropriate school supplies.

There is a 41% ELL population at my school. These students thrive to learn the language and excel in school. These students just need the appropriate tools to do so. These students are enthusiastic about learning new science and math concepts and only lack in the supplies to do so. Our classroom does not have the supplies to help our student practice repetitive math skills during their intervention time during the school day.

My Project

During our intervention time the students will rotate between stations. I would like the students to rotate to a station where they can work cooperatively with the games and practice their math skills. The students will work on these skills daily for 30 minutes and they will benefit from the repeated math facts that they will be exposed to. The multiplications games will be used for the students to access repetitive multiplication and division facts. The students like playing games and would enjoy working on games that improve their math skills. The Molecule sets will be used to have a fun game called molecular madness. This game is where the students work in teams to create molecules out of the model sets. This is a great exposure to organic chemistry.

These games will better the students' lives by giving them access to fun ways to learn and practice math skills.

The students have a hard time with their math skills, so by using fun interactive games the students will gain more access to the math skills.
