Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Traditional resources in the 21st Century are just not enough to spark students' interest in learning. "Great teachers show their students how to move mountains for themselves." I want to open the minds of my students and empower them to reach their ultimate goals in the fields of math and science.
Most of my students are Hispanic.
They love to create and explore concepts when conducting experiments, both in science and mathematics. The majority of my students come from a low socioeconomic status; therefore, many of my students don't have access to any type of technology at home.
My Project
My students need an Interactive Math Program CD, Math instant learning centers and game buzzers to review mathematical concepts learned throughout the school year. My students will use the interactive math game program to review mathematical concepts as well as use hands-on math centers. As they compete in a math game show, students build upon basic skills like multiplication, division, and fractions, which in later years will lead to mastery of everything from proportions, number lines, and adding and subtracting integers; to order of operations, evaluating expressions, employing function tables, and solving complex equations.
When students use interactive programs like games, it provides opportunities to apply and solidify the mathematical reasoning and calculating skills your children are learning in school.
Playing games offers you a greater opportunity to know what your students's strengths and weaknesses in mathematics are.
