My Project
Math manipulatives are an excellent educational tool for preschoolers. They provide a hands-on, concrete way for children to explore and understand abstract math concepts. This active, engaging learning process helps solidify ideas about numbers, shapes, patterns, and spatial relationships - crucial skills for early math development. Using manipulatives also promotes fine motor skills, critical thinking, and a positive attitude towards math.
Preschoolers can build a strong math foundation by developing number sense, learning basic arithmetic operations, and recognizing shapes and patterns.
Incorporating hands-on manipulatives into lessons allows young children to actively explore and understand mathematical concepts.
My pre-k students are an eager and enthusiastic group of young learners who approach each day with a sense of wonder and excitement. Despite coming from a low-income area where educational resources and support may be limited at home, these children demonstrate a deep love for learning and an innate curiosity about the world around them. They especially thrive when engaged in hands-on activities that make learning tangible, interactive, and fun. Whether it's exploring basic math and literacy concepts through play, discovering the magic of science through simple experiments, or expressing their creativity through art projects, these students are most engaged when they can directly experience and participate in the learning process. As an educator, it's incredibly rewarding to nurture their natural inquisitiveness and watch them grow in knowledge and confidence each day. While they may face challenges and obstacles outside the classroom, my pre-k students' passion for learning shines through and propels them forward on their educational journey. By providing a supportive, stimulating environment filled with opportunities for hands-on learning, I strive to foster their development and set a strong foundation for their future academic success.
