My Students
We are a Title I public elementary school in a large urban community in Missouri, the Show Me State.
Our Kindergarten classroom is composed of all boys, many of whom are English Language Learners.
Most of our classroom members are starting Kindergarten with no pre-school or other school experience.
Our school is comprised of students from over forty different countries and features gender-specific classrooms to maximize gender-based learning and teaching strategies.
My Project
This amazing hand2mind Daily Math Fluency Kit for Kids will be used in our classroom during brick and mortar instruction (resuming October 19, 2020) to build number sense in 10 minutes a day with math talk and number strings. The large sized demonstration manipulative will help to demonstrate key math concepts. The kit's math talk will elicit multiple strategies and provide opportunities for students to reason relationship in numbers. The number string set provides related math problems designed to teach strategies based on number relationships. The kit provides a full year of quick daily math activities to supplement and support our Kindergarten curriculum.
