My students need 25 sets of addition and subtraction flashcards to help them sharpen their math skills.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Herzog's classroom raised $521

I teach second grade in an urban area where parents are struggling to make ends meet. We have recent immigrants from many countries (Somalia, Burma, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Mexico, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, St. Lucia, India, Thailand and Togo.) The need is great for materials to supplement our math program. I especially want my students to have flashcards they can take home to study. They love homework!
Children need hands-on materials and opportunities for repetition. I use the money budgeted for supplies for paper and pencils each year. Very little is left over for other essentials. I consider flashcards as essentials if our students are to progress beyond counting on their fingers.
If each students had his/her own flashcards, they could test teach other, help their younger brothers and sisters and participate in math fact classroom contests with proficiency and speed.
You will make such a difference in our students' lives. We stress everyday that our students do their best. Despite the economic and social struggles they face each day, with the proper assistance, our students can be the bright lights of the future.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
