Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom consists of low-income special education students who struggle to perform at their academic grade level. In my resource classroom, it is my hope that I can teach my students strategies and skills that they can take back into their general education classroom to succeed. I hope to teach them to always dream big.

I believe that all my special education students are capable of learning anything as long as they are provided with the proper tools and strategies.

My Project

Memorizing math facts, although a basic skill for most, can be a very challenging skill to master for a student with a learning disability. Learning this skill requires daily repetition and practice. When math facts are memorized students are provided with an opportunity to solve math problems quickly and are given access to the beginnings of basic mental math.

These self-teaching math machines will be used daily in my classroom and will provide my special education students a unique way to memorize math facts that include repetition and tactile learning.
