Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Learning difficult abstract concepts can be challenging to many of us but adding a learning disability to it just makes it even harder. My students are a special groups of students who face challenges everyday due to their autism or learning disabilities. They need materials to be successful.
My students are a group of energetic kinder and 1st graders who are eager to learn.
They live in a area that is surrounded by violence and gangs but they come to school every day with big smiles on their faces. My students are very unique because not only do they face their harsh community but they are also dealing with learning disabilities.
My Project
These resources will help my students grasp difficult math concepts such as measuring and geometry. The measurement centers will provide my students with tools such a a balance and measuring cups that will engage my students while they physically understand how to compare weight. The counters will also help my students complete basic math facts, such as adding and subtracting with hands-on materials. The shapes will allow my students to explore the characteristics of geometric shapes and the file folders will allow them continue to practice math skills previous thought in a fun manner.
These math materials will allow my students to comprehend math concepts needed in everyday life.
These materials will also help make learning geometry easier and therefor my students will feel they have accomplished their goals without any frustration.
