Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are hard working and optimistic about the future. Our school strives to promote and cultivate a college-ready mindset in every student because only a quarter of of my students report having a family member attend college.
If you ask my students what motivates them to succeed, they would talk about their family.
Despite facing many challenges, my students come to school ready to learn and be their best in order to make themselves, their family, and their community proud. Every day I am humbled that I get to be their teacher because they recognize the power of education.
My Project
I want to transform my classroom into a space where students can work together, discuss mathematics, and feel included. Traditional classrooms where students sit in rows is so old school! Modern classrooms encourage collaboration and group work because studies show that this increases learning and retention of the content.
My students need the opportunity to work in groups and discuss math!
When students work on projects they have to work in groups, and these desks will enable students to work in pairs or in a much larger group. Completing tasks in small groups allows each student to participate and get involved.
