My Students
I teach a group of 40 students divided in two groups of 20 kids each. They are part of a Dual Language Immersion Program and we study Portuguese, Math and Science in their second language. My students are curious, talkative, open minded and inquirers.
As with every student around the world, they were affected by the pandemic and are now striving to learn Math.
It takes creativity to get them engaged and motivated to learn.
My Project
People of all ages love to play games that are fun and motivating, this is not different with my pupils. My goal is to give students opportunities to explore fundamental concepts, such as number combinations, patterns, strategies, fluency in their second language and deeper understanding of operations. Games also provide a chance to strengthen peer relationship and interactions with classmates.
When students are playing games, I can get to observe and assess each one of them encouraging strategic mathematical thinking in order to develop familiarity with the numbers.
