This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students get excited when it comes to technology!! They embrace any opportunity to showcase their learning and many are tech savvy learners.
I work with small groups of students who need additional support in math.
Many of them tell me they don't like math in the beginning, and it takes a lot of creative, innovative instruction on my part to get them excited! Most of my students do not have technology at home, and since they are pulled out for additional instruction with me, I find that they miss "computer time" in their homeroom classrooms too.
My Project
I am requesting 1 laptop to create projects such as PowerPoint's, videos, brochures, etc. and to access the interactive technology programs available too.
As we explore math in the world around us, my students will be able to problem solve, create projects, and share their learning in various formats. They will create documents, videos, or games for themselves and for their peers. I want to change their mindsets with encouragement and support to let them know they can be leaders in the classroom too!
There is a stigma for students who are pulled out for additional support, and I want to change that!!
I want my students to feel proud of the work that happens in our classroom! By showcasing their learning through technology, I see their self esteem and their motivation growing! I believe students who take an active role in their learning will reap the benefits for many years to come!
