This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach first grade in a high poverty elementary school in a large district in Oklahoma. I have a high population of english language learners.

My students sometimes have a hard time with certain math concepts because they need to see the problem in a very clear and visual way. This is especially true of my english language learners. They don't have the background knowledge needed to understand the concepts presented at times. There are also concepts that students need repetitious daily exposure to to completely understand.

I need the calendar pocket chart to provide a clear format for students to learn calendar concepts during calendar time each day. I will also be able to provide a clearer understanding of money and addition and subtraction problems. These concepts provide the basic foundation for second grade. The photo library would benefit my students by providing them a much more visual presentation of various math concepts covered throughout the school year.

Your help will make it possible for all of my students to have a better understanding of key math concepts. It would give them a better foundation to be able to use on their educational journey and their journey through life. Thank you for taking time to read my proposal.
