Math Classroom Redesign: Teamwork Makes the Dream Work!

Help me give my students a magical classroom redesign that will emphasize personal responsibility and teamwork. Students will be grouped in pods of four and will share responsibility for maintaining a beautifully organized classroom space!

My Project

I work with an AMAZING group of 5th graders within one of the District's toughest wards. These students are RESILIENT, HUMOROUS and most of all, loaded with POTENTIAL!

I love that as an African American woman, I can be a role model and wear many hats to support students of similar background as me.

My students (as with many students across the Nation), have been struggling with interpersonal relationships. I realized that having students seated in rows (considering the guidelines from the 'National Health Crisis'), is not the most appropriate way to engage students in learning. At their young age, students are yearning for connection and FUN!

The materials I am requesting will allow me to REDESIGN our classroom space to be more inclusive, interactive and organized. This will provide greater opportunities for students to work as part of a team and support each other with the essential learning materials they need to MASTER today's math standards. My hope is that students will be even more excited to walk into my classroom EVERYDAY!
