This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a first-year teacher, I’m so excited to create a classroom that’s engaging, collaborative, and student-centered. Middle school students are full of energy, curiosity, and creativity, and I want to give them the freedom to move, think, and learn in the ways that work best for them.

Many students do their best thinking when they’re not confined to a traditional desk, and with these tools, I can encourage creativity, collaboration, and movement, helping students focus and have ownership over their learning space.

These desks aren’t just furniture, they’re an invitation to explore, collaborate, and enjoy learning.

The portable lap desks and storage rack that I’m requesting will help me build a flexible learning environment where students can comfortably work with partners, move through stations, and even take their learning outside. Whether we’re solving math problems in groups or exploring concepts independently, these portable desks will support all kinds of flexible learning opportunities.

I’m also thrilled to be teaching the theater elective this year, and these lap desks will be perfect for rehearsals. Their portability means students can use them anywhere, making the theater class more dynamic and interactive.
