Math Centers Needed

My students need the math centers that will be made from the laminating sheets and card stock. The storage containers will be used for center storage by groups.

My Students

My typical day would be hard to describe because there are really no typical days in Kindergarten, especially with a class of 26. I want each of my students to be able to master all Kindergarten Common Core standards for math. My class motto is "I do not accept any less than your best!"

My school is a very high poverty school.

Our entire district receives free lunches. Most of my students come from single parent homes, live with grandparents, or are being taken care of by guardians. My students challenge me. I have a wide variety of academic levels in my classroom. I have some that came into the school year with no academic background, I have some with our Pre-school program, and I have some students that went to a private school for Pre-K. I have a classroom full of 26 fun loving kindergarteners that love to learn. They love to work in small groups. They love to help each other. They love being hands on. They love to move around. Most of them love to be challenged.

My Project

The materials that I am requesting will be used to make math centers that will challenge the different academic levels of the students in my classroom. Right now, I have some students that can already fluently add, already are grasping subtraction, telling time, using rulers to measure items, writing their numbers into the 2 and 3 hundreds. These students need to be challenged with harder materials. I will be able to use the materials requested to make the centers needed. The storage bins will be used to store the centers being made. I want to have center groups of 2 students per center. The boxes will hold a challenging center for my upper level students, and an on-level center for my students that struggle. The upper level students will also be used as peer teachers for their center partners as I do small group centers to focus on other skills needing to be mastered.

This project will make a major impact on all of my students.

All students will be challenged by the learning centers that are being made. They will be able to work on skills that are pertinent to their education. They will be able to see themselves succeeding, and that will cause them to want to try even harder and better themselves.
