This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Have you ever thought math was boring? Have you ever tried to see over students in front of you to see what was going on? My students have! Help them fix this!
My students are amazing!
They are 97 of the best kindergarten and first graders you'll ever meet! We're in a low-income charter school and working hard to get to college. My students have a natural love of learning and want to continue that as they progress through school.
My Project
I'm asking for a variety of math materials. Students learn best in small groups and so resource books to help me do that will go a long way in the classroom. The decks of cards are great for number sense building games and the magnetic manipulatives will help all of my students see what's going on without having to crowd around one small area. The timers will be great for use during individual centers and as one class timer. Finally, chart paper makes it so that all the hard work we do on the board doesn't have to go away - we can put it up in the classroom.
If I could sum up why this project is important to my students I would choose "streamlining".
The materials I've requested just makes math easier, more efficient, more accessible, and more engaging. Donating to this project is donating to math skills!
