My Project
Hello! I teach 1st grade at an urban public school in south eastern Michigan. We have 19 eager 1st Graders in our class! Some of my students are learning English as a second language, many receive special education services and a few are having their first school classroom experience post-pandemic. All of my students qualify for free or reduced lunch and every student eats a free breakfast in our classroom each morning.
My students are eager to learn and love math!
However, advanced math concepts can be difficult for them to understand. My 1st graders need math materials to engage them in hands-on math activities!
You can help out my 1st graders! I have asked for math related games and manipulatives so that my students can have hands-on math experiences during math center time! I have asked for toy money so that they can "buy" items from each other and come to understand the value of different coins and bills. The dice and math cards can be used for endless addition and subtraction games. The analog clock game will be fun to play and help my students learn an essential skill. The 3D shapes, tangrams and Zingo will also engage students in learning critical math skills!
Your help will make it possible for my 1st graders to be fully engaged in exciting math centers that help them develop essential mathematical skills. You will be helping my students build a solid understanding of and interest in math at the very beginning of their education! Thank you so much for taking the time to read and consider my proposal!
