My students have grown up in a rural area that has been hard hit by Covid and the crash of many industries, However, they still show up to school every day excited to learn and grow every day. They come to class prepared as much as they can and work very hard in class.
A lot of our students don't have the means to buy a more complex calculator require now to compete their work or use during testing.
The calculators we have have passed through many hands and show the wear and tear of their constant use. New calculators would alleviate a lot of frustration by students when they lose the work they have already done as the calculators often shut off mid-computation.
My Project
Having appropriate and accessible calculators is necessary for students to be able to learn and work through the year. Learning to use the tools and skills is essential for testing confidence especially for junior high students and first time ACT testing.
My students work very hard on continuously building their confidence and strengths in class and I want to ensure that I can provide them all with the tools they need to be successful.
Increasing their confidence in their own abilities while providing them with a strong foundation is one of my main goals within the classroom.
