This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students often enter my room with a lack of confidence in math. It is not long before they realize the mathematician inside of them. With group work, a safe environment, and praise for mistakes as they show we are trying, they begin to see the importance of math and realize their potential.
They are social human beings that love to work together.
And as their math teacher, I give them all the opportunities to do so. They know how to effectively collaborate with their peers and problem solve as a group. As we grow as mathematicians, they impress me with their ability to use different strategies and evaluate one another's ideas to come up with the best answer or process to solve the math problem at hand.
It is my goal to provide them with the proper tools to make them even more successful mathematicans!
My Project
I am asking that my students have a 1/2 inch binder to hold their materials. However, some students do not have the means to acquire these materials. In addition to teaching them math, I will teach them organizational skills. This will help them be successful in my class as well as their future classes.
I provide my students with guided notes to best meet all of their needs.
These cannot be stored in a notebook and become disorganized in a folder. A binder will allow them to keep their notes in chronological order as we work throughout our units!
