My Students
Our middle school students are an awesome group of learners. They come to school full of energy with the desire to learn and better themselves - both academically and personally. As a team, we work together on both core subject content as well as character development to ensure they have the skills necessary for future success.
One word to describe my students: Resilient!
They are fighters and survivors, and they make me so proud. We are a Title I school located in a low socioeconomic area with 100% of our students receiving free breakfast and lunch. We also provide free uniforms. The student population consists of homeless students, students in group homes, historically underserved youth, and low-income families. Despite several obstacles (such as lack of resources), our students are a perfect example of ALL STUDENTS can learn and their success is proof.
My Project
Math class has begun! Our students need binders!
Binders are an essential for organizational success during the year for our middle school students.
They hold formulas, assignments, writing supplies, notes, and many other useful items. We teach "Be Responsible" as one of our core values. Having a binder allows the student to have all of his or her resources in one place. The students will also learn organizational skills and accountability from having access to binders. These life skills will help prepare them for high school in a few years and college thereafter.
Unfortunately, many of our families do not have the extra money to provide these critical new binders. It is even tougher this year for them due to the economic impact of the COVID pandemic. While this year will be challenging for our students, receiving a new binder would allow them to relax and be ready to learn! These binders will help our students most in need, ensuring a wonderful and successful academic year.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
