This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I'm a Special Education teacher. I work in the resource and inclusion setting in Dallas. The kids I work with all require different ways to work with them and that makes them special to me. These kids need someone to get to know them and turn that knowledge into functional ways to make the classroom a better place for them. Some kids fidget and have a lot of energy can greatly improve in-class engagement by simply being allowed to stand up. Other kids need visual prompts and using timers and visual schedules can help them during lessons and complete basic tasks. Getting to know what they need is a great part of my job and their unique needs make them special.

My Project

The materials I chose for this project can be used daily. As always, I try to chose materials that help my class flow efficiently and make learning fun. Math manipulatives are great to turn abstract concepts into real world objects. 3D objects included in this project will make learning fun and create meaningful learning moments. I also selected math templates that focus on math categories the my special education students always need help with. The Math arrays will be a great addition and can be used with students of all grades.
