This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are some of the hardest-working, kindest, and most impressive collection of kids I've ever known. Their infectious energy pushes our community in so many productive ways, whether it be meeting a paper airplane challenge with focused ingenuity or supporting an uncertain classmate who takes a risk in front of everyone.
Despite coming from difficult neighborhoods and an under-funded school district, our students meet challenges head-on with wit and verve.
They deserve so much more than they have, and I hope you will help them see that!
My Project
My students will be working from home for most or all of the upcoming semester. They are willing to work hard, and they will be asked to do a lot with limited resources.
Students should have access to all the tools they need to learn, regardless of where they're doing that learning!
I would like to provide every one of my algebra and geometry students with a graph-paper notebook they can use to keep track of their work and their thinking. My geometry students will also need basic tools, such as a compass, ruler, and protractor, for their personal at-home use.
I have no doubt they will rise to meet the challenge if given the proper resources and support. They always do.
