Help me give my students Power Pens to help them master their math facts, reusable write wipe pockets, and other math items to become more successful in solving math problems!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are enthusiastic about learning and love math! They struggle with problem solving because they are mostly English language learners. My goal is to focus on math facts to build their confidence in math, providing them with the basic skills to solve word problems. Math is quite a difficult concept to grasp and making it fun through games and hands-on activities makes the children excited to learn. These games, hands-on resources, and materials will enhance my mathematical instruction. In addition, this project would provide the students in my math classes with a Power Pen. This pen works with Power Pen card sets, providing instant feedback! Children simply press the pen to a card to choose an answer, then hear kid-friendly phrases for correct answers and gentle redirection for incorrect responses. This would help the students learn and have fun at the same time.

In addition to these math games and resources being an integral part of my math curriculum, my students will look forward to math class because their confidence will grow as their math facts strengthen. Learning basic math facts is key to the academic success of all students in their years to come especially English language learners.
