Math And Science Matter

My students need STEM activities to help them reach common core.The Common Core Math learning centers and science instant centers as well as K'nex will be a great start.

My Students

No more nap time in Kindergarten. With today's common core standards, kids are expected to know so much more. They need the materials to get them their in a fun educational way. Kindergarten is a vital year to install the love of learning. I hope that this is an exciting year for them all.

My class is an amazing group of 5 and 6 year olds that come from many different cultures.

A majority of my kids are experiencing the school like setting for the first time as well as learning the English language. They are coming in with a blank slate and will hopefully leave readers and lovers of learning. They are excited about learning anything and everything. They want to be at school so they can see their new friends. Our school is Title One which means that over 80 % of our students are receiving free or reduced meals due to income.

My Project

The students will have many opportunities to engage in these fabulous activities during math, workshop time, as well as our choice time at the end of the day. Every kid has different needs and abilities so the range of these activities will allow those who have a love for science to explore more. If they love working with K'nex and creating things those will be great too. The iPad has so many opportunities for learning as well. All the different math games will also teach cooperative play while they are learning at the same time.

This project will help my classroom by allowing me not to have to sit and create and make games that only last a year.

These will last for years to come and they range in ability so there is something to fit everyones needs. The students will be excited to have more choices of rigorous new material to learn with. I want my students to leave kindergarten not only at benchmark but with the desire to be a learner and the love of school. Thank you in advance for making this possible.
