This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students lives are very stressful and chaotic. They face homelessness, social and economic barriers every day. Most live in a single parent households and come from second language homes where most parents did not complete their education. Everyday my students face new struggles and challenges. This impacts their learning and concentration as well as their focus on their school work.

My class of 24 students are bright, energetic, enthusiastic, affectionate and thoughtful.

They are in dire need of rich and rewarding experiences that due to family circumstances they do not have the opportunity to experience. They face so many challenges in and outside of the classroom that I am trying to create a classroom that is a haven from the outside world, even if it is virtually!

My Project

My students need quality interactive learning games to continue fostering their curiosity and engagement in science and math. Distance learning has been challenging and has not engaged all my learners. Virtual activities are good resource, but they can't replace the ones my students can physically interact with.

I plan on printing and laminating colorful math and science learning games to allow my class to continue their thinking and learning during remote learning.

Hands-on learning is crucial for math and science education especially with my English Language Learners and Special Needs students.

Funding this project will provide fun and engaging colorful math and science learning games to distribute to students.
