Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a diverse group of moderate to severe learning disabled students, some with fragile medical needs. Some of the students have autism or Down's syndrome, one with cerebral palsy, one with mitochondrial disease (making her very fragile). The students all have AMAZING attitudes and are very hard working. They love coming to school and learning. The students have a fun, playful sense of humor and make my "work" day, a "play" day every single day. These students fill my life with joy and I want to provide the best and most meaningful education I can for them in return.

My Project

My students love to explore and learn with hands on, real life materials! I would love to teach them with exciting and colorful materials for both math and science where they are thoroughly engaged through play and exploration. Because materials are very costly, I tend to make most of mine. I found wonderful, colorful and fun math exploration folder games with my students that are certain to be a huge hit!

Also, I'm lacking science materials- so I rarely teach science.

My students and I have talked about how cool it would be to incubate chicken eggs. I've search for a reasonably priced incubator for years. Found a great one that would meet this project perfectly. Also we already have a wonderful place to donate the hatched hicks where they will be well cared for with other chickens. Thanks for donating!
