Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My classroom is filled with eager first-grade scholars who are excited to learn and grow each day! However, mathematics and English Language Arts (ELA) often present challenges for many of our scholars. To ensure that every child has the opportunity to succeed, we implement a variety of teaching strategies, including differentiated instruction, small group interventions, and engaging station activities tailored to each individual’s needs.

The resources I have carefully selected are specifically designed to cater to the diverse learning styles and backgrounds of my hardworking scholars.

For instance, I would love to acquire Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards, which would allow me to purchase math and reading homework packets that scholars can utilize at home to reinforce important concepts and skills. Additionally, I plan to incorporate ready-to-use folder games that target key math standards and provide everything students need for independent practice, ensuring they can work at their own pace.

To support literacy development, the Sight Word Sentence Center will be invaluable as it promotes mastery of high-frequency sight words through hands-on activities where scholars create fun, rebus-style sentences. Moreover, the Splash Alphabet game will assist scholars in mastering all 26 letters of the alphabet, while the Splash Middle Sound game will develop essential skills such as identifying middle sounds, associating letters with sounds, enhancing vocabulary, and following multistep directions.

Furthermore, I have requested skin-tone bandages, a variety of culturally relevant books, and Make-A-Face sheets for diverse projects that honor all cultures within our vibrant classroom community. These carefully chosen resources will undoubtedly help my diverse group of scholars enhance their number sense and vocabulary skills in no time!
