My Students
Our students are located in a very diverse urban setting of Northern New Jersey. Our school includes Prek-3, Prek-4, and Kindergarten with an overwhelming population of special needs students. We strive to provide an environment for students to feel safe, to have respect for self and others, to be confident learners, and to learn without boundaries...anything is possible if we try.
My classroom motto, “I will try!” encourages students to learn without fear of failing because we can always try again!
It goes without saying how proud I am to hear my students say "I'm doing it!" However, we also learn that it's ok if we cannot do it because we can turn to a friend and ask for help. Kindness, respect, and empowerment is an encouragement extended to our entire school.
The school's cheer is "Kindness and respect, Oh yea! Means we'll be nice and always care. We'll watch what we do and say, 'cause that is 'our' way!"
My Project
Our daily class schedule consists of 90 minutes of Math that includes morning meeting, large group and small groups math centers. Then we have 90 minutes of Language Arts which includes reading, writing and phonics. New concepts are taught in a whole group setting. Then students are reinforced in small groups.
My hardworking kindergarten students need a complete Math and Sight Words Centers to help enhance their math and literacy skills during small groups.
Small groups setting encourages students to work independently or with a peer. They use hands on manipulatives to reinforce the new concept that was taught for the day.
With your support, my students will learn how to match alphabet letters, spell sight words, identify and read sight words. In addition, my students will learn to identify and create math patterns, learn addition and subtractions with the complete Math Centers.
The centers are hands-on manipulatives which will help build strong math and literacy foundation while making learning seem like play!
