it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I'm a Special Education teacher. I work in the resource and inclusion setting in Dallas. The kids I work with all require different ways to work with them and that makes them special to me. These kids need someone to get to know them and turn that knowledge into functional ways to make the classroom a better place for them. Some kids fidget and have a lot of energy can greatly improve in-class engagement by simply being allowed to stand up. Other kids need visual prompts and using timers and visual schedules can help them during lessons and complete basic tasks. Getting to know what they need is a great part of my job and their unique needs make them special.
My Project
The materials will provide great hands-on learning tools for Math and Language lessons. The blocks are basic but really important for kids that are having a hard time going from counting one to two place values. I see this being really useful for kids in first through third grades.
The sight word tiles are in Spanish and will help for sentence building.
Some students have a hard time writing and sometimes that slows down what we can do during small group time. The two sets will have basic and then an additional word that will help to have a variety of vocabulary to work with.
