Math and Books! Summer Gifts for Students! (Title I)

Help me give my students each a copy of a math related book to keep as a memento of 2nd grade as well as a book to read over the summer!

My Project

This project is to help give my students each a book to keep at the end of this 2nd grade school year. I have chosen fun, entertaining reads that all of my students can enjoy! This end-of-the-year gift will actually have perfect timing, due to the last major math topic we cover in the second grade being shapes and partitioning. Students will get a wonderful text to read at home with their families while reviewing math concepts at the same time. Many benefits will come from this project: It will help give the students a new book to have at home, students will be able to work on their reading accuracy and fluency, as well as build their self-confidence in math and reading at the same time! It will also increase the school and home connection with my student's families as they read together. Geometry is one of our last units in 2nd grade, but for some students they are getting a division related story due to needing a challenge.

I love the idea of connecting math with literature!

Students will truly enjoy these gifts, and I know that they will treasure them for many years to come. Not only will my students be reviewing many geometry standards and topics through this book, but it is a gift that they can cherish. I love that this can help them review for third grade also! I want to be able to offer my students every opportunity possible. Being able to give them a gift of literature with math integration would be absolutely perfect for this group of second graders. Thank you.
