Math Activities

Help me give my students great math centers. My students love math and work extremely hard. These math activities will help build number sense, and help motivate my students to explain their thinking.

This project is fully funded

My Students

I am teaching first grade to thirty-one students. They are a very diverse group of students. My class is a high-performing class with only a third reading below grade level. This seems like a lot, however some years it could be the opposite. Therefore, this class is able to work independently. I am looking to set up high-quality centers for this high-energy class. This class has very good attendance and comes regularly on time. They also have a good set of involved parents that check folders and make sure homework is getting done. It's going to be a great year.

My Project

These engaging math activities will help bring math to life in my classroom. The wobble chairs will help keep my students focused on the math activity. The write on number mats will help students become fluent in their counting to 120.

The math manipulatives are useful in building number sense in young mathematicians.

Students at the concrete level need hands on materials to help figure out difficult math concepts.

These manipulatives will also help students communicate effectively with one another about during math talk conversations. The dot counting cards will help students become rapid, accurate and confident judgments of numbers. These activities will be used to develop students ability to instantly see how many.
