This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come to our small charter school so that they will not get lost in the over two thousand student local high school. Their parents have big dreams for their children but many lack the knowledge of how to get to college. Over 90% of our students will be first generation college students and many have parents who did not have the opportunity to go to high school.
Graduation day is amazing at our school.
Watching a student be the first one in their family to walk across the stage and receive a diploma, is a life-changing experience. Knowing that they are on their way to college makes all the hard work worthwhile.
My Project
Our students come to high school hating to have to graph in math class. One of our main goals as a department is get them comfortable with this important aspect of our curriculum. We are always looking to ways to make our job easier and our students happier.
We are asking for graph post-its and magnetic dry erase graphs that we can put on our front board.
The post-it graphs make note taking so much easier and when a student makes a mistake on a worksheet, they can quickly get a new graph without having to use whiteout. They will love to use the large graph to display their work.
