This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The materials and supplies I am requesting will help my 5th grade math students work in cooperative groups. Having students work in groups will help them problem solve not only in the classroom but in everyday life. We are asking for graphing chart paper to help students organize their work and create visual models to represent their equations. The wipe off dry erase boards will have students persevere through challenging problems. The reusable pockets will aid our students with special needs over and over again to organize their thinking maps. We use post-it notes so students can explain their ideas during gallery walks. The other materials such as the markers, crayons, colored pencils will all aid the students when creating their own charts to display their things as we tackle mathematical problems in groups.
The students in our school look to us to help give them the tools they need to be successful.
Investigation learning in math has proven to help make students life long mathematical thinkers. I am asking for your to help in donating the supplies needed to make these groups engaging and productive. They learn not only to problem solve, but how to have discussions about their ideas.
