My Project

I teach French, Music, Art and Science in a free charter school in Oakland. My middle school students are bright, curious, and full of creativity. They love discovering how things work, whether it’s through a science experiment, a song, or a colorful painting. Many come from limited-resource backgrounds, so our classroom is where their curiosity and imagination can truly shine. With these resources, my students will explore, create, and express themselves in ways that build both confidence and community.

The Crayola paints, brushes, no-spill cups, and watercolor paper will let students bring their ideas to life through art.

They’ll design scientific illustrations, paint scenes inspired by music, and create backdrops for performances. High-quality materials make students feel proud of their work and help them see themselves as real artists.

Through “Canta, mariachi, canta!”, “Experiencing Music Composition in Middle School,” and choral books like “Pop Warm-Ups for Choir” and “Sing 6-7-8!”, students will sing, compose, and explore music from different cultures. These activities build teamwork, self-expression, and joy, helping every student find their voice.

The Kemtec Genetics Kit will bring science to life with hands-on experiments about DNA and heredity. Students will connect scientific investigation with creativity and learn to see patterns that exist in both music and nature.

With “The Bucket Book,” they’ll make rhythm instruments from everyday items, learning that music can be created anywhere and by anyone. And our music classroom posters will brighten the room and reinforce learning every day.

Together, these resources will create a vibrant, hands-on classroom where curiosity and creativity meet. My students will gain not only skills in science and the arts but also the confidence to explore, express, and dream big, because when they believe in their creativity, anything is possible!
