My Project

I have the privilege to teach amazing high school students functional reading and math skills, social skills, communication skills, life skills and vocational skills. They are such a hard working group of students that love to learn and build individual skills. My students are visual and kinesthetic learners that require a variety of materials to assist with learning.

The most important goal is to give my students the opportunity to learn and participate in functional learning tasks/activities and life skills activities that will promote integration, social interaction and independence.

The utility cart will be used to carry items purchased for our snack shop and cafe my class runs. We also run the copy room so it will also be used to deliver items to teachers, such as, copies. The TPT gift card will be used so we can all learn about the same topic but on individual levels. It will also be used to create task boxes for individual skill building. The pressure cooker will be used in our kitchen during our cooking lessons. The legos will be used for Fun Fridays and then to decorate the classroom with their own creation. The therapy putty will be used for cutting skills. The rug and one lamp will be used to create a homey feel in the classroom as they spend lots of time in one room. The multi head lamp and bookshelf will be used in our Print shop to enhance lighting and for storage. Lastly, the clock will be used for the students who can’t read an analog clock.

The supplies will support future opportunities, help with organization, create comfortable learning spaces and build necessary skills for independence.
