Materials for Speech-Language Learning!

Help me give my students the chance to improve their communication skills through play-based instruction with a speech therapy flip book, toys, games, and puzzles!

My Project

I am a speech-language pathologist in a school that services children in preschool through third grade. I am requesting items that will help me to encourage my students to love and enjoy communication.

My goal for this project is to make communication motivating for my students in order to promote their ability to express themselves freely.

Children learn best through play, so I have requested several items that will make talking enjoyable. The barn, for example, encourages children to make simple consonant vowel combinations (moo, baa) that are foundational for early speech. I can use it for teaching position concepts (The cow is next to the barn), and many other language targets. The toys and games encourage natural communication and allow me to target both speech and language skills with structured activities. The Flip Book would allow me to help some of my neediest speech students with Childhood Apraxia of Speech learn early sound combinations.

My students are special because they struggle to express themselves clearly and/or understand the language of others. This creates social barriers and frustration that can have deep education and emotional impacts.
