My students need hands-on materials. The putty will be used to help the ADHD and autistic kids focus, and the math measurement materials will be useful.
A typical day in my class can be described as the students doing academic tasks in the morning. In the afternoon they are involved in life skills and job skills!
My students are typical junior high students who are excited about learning.
They are 7th and 8th graders who attend junior high in Mesa. Our school is the largest junior high in our district. We try to integrate technology as much as possible to make sure the students will be successful in the future!
My Project
My students will use the math manipulatives daily in math lessons as they learn real life skills. They can measure many things around the junior high campus. This skill can be transferred to real life someday when they need to measure a room for carpet for their house! The students will use the theraputty as a calming tool as they continue to work throughout the day!
This project will improve my classroom by giving me materials that will enrich the student's learning.
The students will be more prepared for their future as they learn skills that will enable them to make a successful transition after high school.
