it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students love to play matching games. I love that such games exist that will help them with letters, words, shapes, numbers, and so much more. Since they can't get enough of these games, we need more.
I teach 22 wonderful kindergartners at a great elementary school in a small town in Texas.
I will most likely have a full class of 22 again next year. My students come from loving families that are struggling in these hard economic times. Over 90 percent of the students at my school come from low-income households. Most receive free lunch. All students are now receiving free breakfast through a federal program. With their bodies nourished, it's time to feed their minds.
My Project
Matching games teach my students logical thinking, academic skills, and patience. They have to know what they are looking for, recall where previously flipped cards are located, and take turns. We love playing these games as a whole group activity and during center time. With new alphabet, spelling, animal name, and Dr. Seuss sets, my students will have several new literacy based matching games. We would also love to have matching games that focus on shapes, patterning, numbers, counting, and addition.
The joy on a student's face when they get a match is priceless.
All students can experience success in matching games and build logical thinking skills. These 11 new activities will provide unlimited new opportunities for my students to learn and grow.
