Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a low income school in Texas where 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Working with Pre-K students they are eager to learn and play. I fully believe young students need the chance to play in order to learn and experience new opportunities. The students come in with low vocabulary and academic readiness but through play and new experiences they can grow. My students need the chance to build and develop their vocabulary and academic skills.
My Project
My students need the tools and supplies to help them master Pre-K. The materials we do have are old, have major wear and tear, puzzle pieces missing, supplies that have just been used but not replaced due to financial burdens of Hurricane Harvey.
I'm coming to this campus at a deficit because not only did prior teachers not take care of materials, there were the effects of Hurricane Harvey on the community.
With the materials requested, I can better assist my students in developing their fine motor skills, develop alphabetic knowledge and vocabulary, and create more resources for the students to use.
Thank you for your assistance in supplying my classroom.
