This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a Title I school in a low socioeconomic area of Northern California where the majority of the students are English language learners. Although each of my students come to school with different backgrounds and sets of experiences, they all have one thing in common, they are expected to come to school ready to learn and by the end of the year master the first grade common core standards and be ready for second grade. As their teacher, this is my number one priority!

My Project

The materials I am requesting are an incredible way to provide students with the interactive, hands-on experiences they need to understand the math and science standards and be successful. In an age with TV, video games, computers, and more, students need more than just a textbook and word explanations to find the motivation to learn. By receiving three Chromebooks, I can bring learning to life to my students. By accessing educational websites, students can better understand the standards they are expected to know. These computers would provide endless opportunities for my students to be successful, regardless of their level. With the funding of this project, I would be able to give my students more opportunities to explore and discover the world of math and science.
