My students need talking flash cards, talking pens and erasable fact mastery books.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. K.'s classroom raised $442
This project is fully funded
Each morning I greet a group of students who come from a variety backgrounds and experiences. Many of my students are struggling to cope with the multifaceted dilemmas of living in extreme poverty. Some of my students have experienced more than I can imagine in their short ten years. Nearly all of my students are behind in math and science, failing to meet state standards. Yet, these students have so much to offer our classroom community. From the student that consistently strives for excellence in spite of his different learning abilities to the student that is able to make us all laugh, each of these students has unique qualities that I hope to develop in the coming year. It’s these students that motivate me to go to work each morning, compelling me with their stories and capturing my heart with their willingness to persevere amongst rampant injustices.
Basic multiplication and division facts are essential skills underlying nearly all mathematical concepts. However, most of my students have been learning their multiplication facts for several years now and need an exciting new way to practice learning their math facts. Furthermore, all of my students are at different places in their journey to learn math facts and need a variety of resources to meet their individual needs.
My students need talking flash cards, talking pens, and fact mastery books with timers to help them master their math facts. These engaging materials will inspire innumerable hours of practice and lead my students to successfully develop a thorough understanding of basic operations. In addition, these materials will allow my students to practice the skills they still need to master, ranging from addition to division. Mastering math facts will lay a foundation for my students future success in math.
Remember, the future of Hawaii depends on the condition of its children. Out here on the Leeward Coast our children possess infinite potential and are given so little. If our children are given the chance, nurtured and provided with meaningful learning opportunities, I know they can develop into incredible leaders. People like you who generously support our children are working toward a brighter future.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
