Mastering Entrepreneurship as Makerpreneurs!

My students need air-dry clay, paint markers, glue, sealing spray, and embellishments to create ornaments that will be sold in their Entrepreneurship class to learn the ropes of running a business!

My Students

My classroom is not defined by the four walls that surround us. Our learning goes well beyond those walls. We are inventors, researchers, creators, collaborators, philanthropists, technophiles, and scholars. My students are always reaching for more ways to learn.

My business and technology classes have students from various grade levels, socioeconomic backgrounds, ethnicities, religions, and academic capabilities.

These students come together in such an amazing way to create real results. They support each other unconditionally and really have a desire to change the world around them.

My Project

Students in my Entrepreneurship classes routinely run small businesses to learn about the functions of business and the importance of properly handling financial responsibilities. Up until this point, students have designed products like wristbands, tumbler cups, and car decals. Students then commissioned vendors to create the products for them. This year, we're putting a new twist on the project.

Students will be creating their own products to sell!

They have pitched product proposals to each other and the votes are in. Students want to make their own ornaments this semester. Students will create the ornaments with the air-dry clay, decorate them with the paint markers and embellishments, and will seal them with the clear spray. As part of running their small business, students will need to forecast a budget based on buying any additional materials and what they anticipate prospective sales to be. When the project culminates, they will then analyze their business using financial statements and then donate their proceeds to a local charity!
