Help me give my students opportunities to do math activities that other teachers have already created- activities and centers that are already tested and are successful and effective for the specific second grade standards.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a first year teacher at a low income school that serves a population of 92% Hispanic, 6% African American, and 2% "other" students. These students face many challenges in and out of their homes and coming into a controlled, reliable classroom environment can be very difficult for them. I want to offer them a reliable, comforting, and consistent space to learn how to be responsible and caring people.
Though I cannot control what happens outside of the classroom, I can certainly control what happens inside.
My students come to class feeling loved, supported, and engaged. I have a wide range of students in my classroom. Some students are highly intelligent and some have developmental delays. This does not stop me from providing them the education that they need. I am excited to come to school each day to give them a positive classroom environment.
My Project
These games and materials through TPT will support math learning and help with both the lower students and the more gifted students in the room. There are so many scaffolded math games and worksheets that allow students to have diverse learning that engages them.
Math is something that is so much more effective and so much more fun when it allows students to connect it to the real world, and that is what many of these activities do.
With the resources I have bought on TPT before, I have seen growth with using effective TPT assessments and activities.
TPT allows teachers to share resources and ideas and provide ideas that are effective and helpful for the classroom. This saves the teacher a lot of time and improves student engagement, all in one!
