My Students
You have to love dancing to stick to it. It gives you nothing back, no manuscripts to store away, no paintings to show on walls and maybe hang in museums, no poems to be printed and sold, nothing but that single fleeting moment when you feel alive.

Dance is a unique art form because the performance happens but it does not reflect all of the hours of class, technique, and rehearsal time.
In fact, most of the time, the dancers are expected to perform in a way that portrays little-to-no effort! This is so the opposite of what they actually do in the choreography process!
My students are eager learners who are diverse both culturally and socioeconomically. Our school is a college preparatory charter high school in Southern California with a rigorous curriculum that is high-demanding. Students are expected to rise to the occasion academically despite social and financial obstacles that they may face. Our school is designated low socioeconomic status and we are deemed a Title 1 school.
My Project
My students will truly soak up the experience of having a professional dancer come in and work with them. My students thrive on real-world experiences and this is an opportunity to bring someone working as a professional dancer in the real world in to my classroom.
Not only will Michael's incredible technique and choreography connect with my students, but the conversations about dance and the "teachable moments" that will occur throughout the workshop will be invaluable.
Michael is someone who has worked in a variety of different educational settings and he most definitely will inspire my students to set new goals and reach new heights in the dancing paths.
