I am the Media Specialist and Introduction to Computer Science Teacher in a Title I PreK-5 school. Our students are full of promise, energetic, creative, and eager to learn. Research shows that students basic human needs need to be addressed in order to support academic excellence. One hundred percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch daily and we maintain a resource room to distribute many items and to assist students to comply with the uniform policy.
My goal is to remove barriers and to facilitate my students' love of learning by providing clean, comfortable school uniforms in our resource room located in the library.
There are times when students come to school without a uniform for various reasons. Sometimes older students outgrow their entire uniform wardrobe before their parents’ budget would allow complete replacement. We often need to provide clean uniforms in the clinic because primary students have accidents at school. We want students to feel comfortable, in their uniform, and enjoying successful learning experiences.
