Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our elementary students come to school daily with many outside challenges and past trauma. Many of our students rely on our school's breakfasts and lunches as their primary food source. It's hard to do schoolwork on an empty stomach or when they are worried about whether there is something to eat on days that they don't have school.

We want to send our neediest students home with healthy food items so that they don't have to worry about being hungry on the weekends.

These bags help entire families who are struggling with the rising cost of groceries or those who may not qualify for assistance and are falling through the cracks.

ALL of our students are able to receive free breakfast and lunch at school. Food insecurity is real, and these meals may be the only meals they eat. We have a backpack program here at our school and currently provide a minimum of 10 bags filled with food each weekend for these students. This assistance will allow us to keep this program running for the students that need it most. No child should have to worry about where their next meal should come from.
