My Students
I teach wonderful students in a rural area. We are a highly impacted title one school. My students face many challenges with the positive optimism of childhood.
I am an art teacher with a very modest budget.
I teach children of all ages from kindergarten to 5th graders. I teach at 4 schools working with over 2,400 students. I love that I get to share my greatest passion of art and learning with them. I see so many 21st century skills developed through visual art. Students get the opportunity to problem solve, make creative choices, and to see and understand the world around them more clearly.
My Project
I am always looking for art projects that connect to literacy and that will excite my students about being creative in art. I love to share picture books that will inspire student's ideas for an art project. I have read many picture books about wearing and making masks. It would be exciting to be able to create individual masks, using feathers, with my students.
Creativity can inspire our children's' future.
I work with 2,800 students at 4 schools. So, getting materials with a modest budget can be tricky. If I do a project with one grade level that is over 400 students.
