My special needs students are in high school now, and we are working on independent living skills. My students have a variety of learning levels, including autism, learning disabilities, and lower-functioning students with mental disabilities. My classroom is designed to be a studio apartment in order to teach daily living skills. My students will be learning about the responsibilities that each of us have in our daily lives, and we will also learn how we will balance our work time and our leisure time.
My Project
Students and teachers must wear masks in the classroom, so it would be great to have comfortable masks for my high school students. Since we are required to wear masks at all times, except for eating, having different types and colors of masks for students will be a way to enhance the comfort of mask wearing.
I hope to create events where we are engaging students in choosing from different types of masks, finding what is the best fit for them, and even decorating the masks to make the mask more personal to each student.
Motivational snacks will encourage students to learn more about why we are wearing masks at school.
